Explore the fascinating unbounded medium of encaustic! If you've ever been curious, this two-day workshop will teach you how to create luminous paintings using heated, pigmented beeswax.

Art Verve Academy Adult Art Class

Beginners and intermediates are welcome! Learn the process, recipes, equipment, and studio setup needed to practice with encaustic. Discover the history of this ancient medium and learn techniques that date back thousands of years.

Demonstrations will include texture, substrates, ground surface techniques, collage, mixed media, and 3-D applications, with plenty of one-on-one instruction. The use of all equipment, tools, and some consumable materials will be included.

Meets: (2) Days on Saturday & Sunday, 9:00 AM - 4:30 PM (1-hour lunch break each day)
Dates: Mar. 9 & 10, 2019

Format: Lecture and demonstration. Studio practice with individual feedback or one-on-one instruction will be provided. The maximum enrollment is 8.
Level: Absolute Beginner, Beginner, or Intermediate. All levels are welcome!

Medium: Encaustic
Technique: Texture, substrates, grounds surface, collage, mixed media, and 3-D applications
Materials: The class includes all use of encaustic equipment, tools, and consumable materials. Bring notebook paper, pen, or pencil, several images of your favorite artist's work, and an image of any of your own favorite artwork (to share your artistic sensibility). Wear or bring an apron and closed-toed shoes to work in the studio.
