Drawing in Pen & Ink
(Jan. 2020)

Art Verve Academy

Pen and ink are perfect for sketching on the go. They're a medium definitely worth getting to know. Once you make a mark, it won't budge. It also dries quickly and is sure not to smudge. Switch to a brush and draw like a painter; work with ink washes to build values like it's a no-brainer.

Practice your Pen & Ink skills by copying the Old Masters.

Charles Dana Gibson was a master in pen & ink drawings, published in magazines and newspapers during the 1890s. The Gibson Girl was the personification of the feminine ideal of physical attractiveness as portrayed by the pen-and-ink illustrations of artist Charles Dana Gibson during a 20-year period that spanned the late 19th and early 20th century in the United States and Canada.

The artist saw his creation as representing the composite of "thousands of American girls," who were modern and independent without chaperones, soon to win the right to vote. (Wikipedia, 2020).
