The Art of Seeing: Glass I (Aug. 2024)

Art Verve Academy

Glass is transparent, so how do you draw it? Because glass is usually highly reflective, it can be visually complex. However, there are basic principles that can be applied to simplify glass while still creating a convincing illusion of it being both reflective and transparent.

This class will focus on specific observations and techniques to draw glass in a way that looks transparent and reflective with an emphasis on the distortion glass creates as well as the variations of light within cast shadows and reflections.

The longer we focus on something, the more we notice and begin to understand.  If you are interested in highly refining your drawing, or if you want to build off of what you learn by adding color and/or switching to paint, extend your time by continuing with the Art of Seeing: Glass II that follows this class in September.
