The Art of Seeing:
Metal (Mar. 2025)

Art Verve Academy
1 minute read

Learn to break down a metal object into simple shapes, values, and relationships and develop the artwork. You will be amazed at what you notice when you dedicate your time to thoughtful observation!

Metal has a beauty all its own. It can be highly reflective or beautifully tarnished. It reflects the colors around it and can hold various colors within it, making it visually complex. However, there are basic principles that can be applied to simplify metal while still creating a convincing illusion of its reflective surface.

The longer we focus on something, the more we notice and begin to understand. This class will focus on drawing and measurement, light, shadows, transitions, and details. Each session will build on the previous week, regardless of whether you choose to create a painting or a highly rendered drawing.
