Art Verve Academy - Light and Dark Relationships in Watercolor (Feb. 2018)
Have people told you that watercolor is a difficult medium? Let's dispel that myth as you explore the attributes of watercolor paints with Stacy Egan. 'Value' helps us visually determine one shape from another. It also describes the lightness or darkness of a color relative to its surroundings. In this class, you will work through a series of exercises specific to watercolor that will help you control your lights and darks.

Learn how to maintain light areas with masking techniques, preserve the paper's white, and handle highlights. Create luscious darks by slowly building up layers or controlling the ratio of pigment versus water used in your brush. Apply these techniques to a larger or finished piece.
